Moodora is built around a simple promise: the trips you dream up are personal, and they should stay that way. This policy explains, in plain language, what we do and don't do with your information. No dense legal fog — just an honest account of how the app and this website work.
Our privacy-first approach
Moodora is on-device first. The things that make a trip yours — your itineraries, saved destinations, mood and energy check-ins, travel journals, and the conversations you have with the in-app AI planner — live on your phone, not on our servers. The AI that helps you plan runs on your device, so the details of where you're going and how you're feeling don't need to leave it.
That means we generally can't see your trips, and we couldn't hand them over even if someone asked. If you ever choose to sync or back up your data through a future feature, we'll tell you clearly before anything leaves your device and let you decide.
What we collect
To understand how people use Moodora and to keep improving it, we collect a minimal amount of privacy-respecting product analytics through PostHog. This is about how the product is used in aggregate — never the content of your trips. Specifically, this can include:
- Anonymous usage events, such as which screens and features are opened and which buttons are tapped.
- Marketing attribution (UTM parameters) so we know which links and campaigns brought you here.
- Basic technical details like device type, operating system, browser, screen size, and approximate region inferred from your IP address.
- Session replay on this website, where we record on-page interactions to spot confusing flows — with all form fields, text inputs, and personal details automatically masked so we cannot read what you type.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We don't build profiles to follow you around the internet. The analytics we keep exist for one reason: to make Moodora calmer and more useful.
Cookies & local storage
This website uses a small number of cookies and similar local storage to remember your preferences and to power the anonymous analytics described above. The Moodora app uses on-device storage to keep your trips, journals, and settings available offline — that storage stays on your phone.
We don't use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking. You can clear cookies and local storage at any time through your browser or device settings.
Third-party services
We keep our list of outside services short and intentional:
- PostHog — our product analytics and session replay, used to understand aggregate, anonymized usage. It processes the technical and event data described above on our behalf.
- Apple App Store and Google Play — when you download or subscribe to Moodora, Apple or Google handles the transaction and payment. We never see your full card details; we receive only the limited purchase and subscription information needed to unlock Pro.
Each of these providers handles your information under their own privacy policies, and we choose them with care.
Your choices
You're in control. You can:
- Opt out of analytics and cookies on this website through the cookie controls, or by enabling your browser's Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control signal, which we respect.
- Adjust analytics and tracking permissions for the app in your device's privacy settings.
- Delete your on-device data at any time by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling Moodora — your trips go with it.
Opting out won't lock you out of any features. The app is designed to work fully without analytics.
Data retention
Your trips, journals, and chats stay on your device for as long as you keep them, and disappear when you delete them. The anonymized analytics we collect through PostHog are retained only as long as they're useful for understanding product trends — typically up to 12 months — after which they're aggregated or deleted. We keep purchase and subscription records for as long as required to support your account and meet legal and tax obligations.
Children's privacy
Moodora is made for adults planning their travels and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region). We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please reach out and we'll remove it.
International data transfers
Because your trip data lives on your device, it generally never crosses borders through us. The limited analytics and purchase data we do process may be handled by our service providers on servers in other countries, including outside your own. When that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as standard contractual clauses — to keep your information protected wherever it travels.
Changes to this policy
As Moodora grows, this policy may need to change. When we make meaningful updates, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app or on this site. We'll never quietly weaken your privacy without telling you.
